Whether you’re new to bar tools or looking for a good second set, we’ve got it right here: four tools, perfect for stirred cocktails like Old Fashioneds, manhattans, and martinis (with apologies to Mr. Bond), available for a limited time in a single set:
Mixing glass. There are bigger and smaller mixing glasses on the market, but at 18 oz, this one’s the perfect size — roomy enough for several cocktails but not too big for just one. (Nobody wants to feel like they’re chasing their booze and ice around a washtub. That’s just sad.)
Bar spoon. This stainless steel spoon has a nice, long handle, suitable for use with a mixing glass on up to a medium-size pitcher, and ideal for executing a perfect quick stir.
Julep strainer. Way less messy than a mesh kitchen strainer and infinitely more effective than a spoon at holding back ice and chunky bits of whatever, this stainless steel strainer’s easy to handle and a cinch to clean. You’ll wonder why you didn’t get this sooner, and you’ll want to use it for everything.
Jigger. This classic bartender’s jigger, designed to portion out Proof Syrups, liquors, liqueurs and who knows what-all else, is stainless steel and marked for ½ oz, 1 oz, 1 ½ oz, and 2 oz. For the record: eyeballing’s for chumps. The best cocktails happen when you nail the proportions.
- We recommend rinsing and drying with a soft towel after each use.
- If needed, use a mild detergent to wash, then rinse thoroughly.
- If you’re feeling old-school, clean with a soft rag and some stainless steel oil. If you’re feeling old, well, pour yourself another. It’s what we do. It helps.
- Take good care of these tools; keep them away from children, pets, and others who lack proper respect for such items.
