Tart, sweet, and nicely spiced, this cocktail comes together in a flash, is easy to customize to your taste, and batches up perfectly. We recommend a reposado in this recipe for its smooth, mellow taste, but any tequila will work.

- Fill prepared glass with fresh ice, then strain cocktail into glass.

Variations
- If you like smoky cocktails, rinse glass with mezcal before filling. If you really like smoky cocktails, replace 1/2 oz all the way up to 2 oz of the tequila with your favorite mezcal.
- If you prefer cocktails that are more tart than sweet, skip or use only a quarter-ounce of the Orange.
- A small pinch of freshly grated cinnamon and nutmeg in the shaker pushes the warm-spice note further without making the drink sweeter.
- Serve this margarita up, in a chilled coupe or martini glass, instead of on the rocks.
- We can't say enough nice things about putting a cinnamon-sugar rim on whatever glass you serve in. It only sounds silly until you taste it.
