Nutty Manhattan

Our Latest Riff on the French 75 — a Classic Cocktail Named for a WWI Cannon

In our Proof 75, Traditional Proof Syrup takes the place of the original recipe’s simple syrup; now we’ve swapped out Traditional for Orange, and we’re loving how the orange oleo saccharum and bitters brighten up the herbs in the gin with a citrusy kick. Whichever version you drink, the 75 is a strongish cocktail that’s neither sweet nor especially spirit-forward, and equally delicious with brunch or before dinner. Even if gin’s not your fave right now, a good 75 — with Orange or Traditional Proof Syrup — might change your mind (or at least help you get through that bottle at the back of your liquor cabinet).
